WALES - The Patient Transport Service division of St. John Ambulance Cymru-Wales provides assisted ambulatory, stretcher, and wheelchair accessible non-emergency medical transportation for more than 20,000 patients each year throughout Wales. Services are provided in conjunction with National Health Service Trusts, Social Services, insurance companies, or can be arranged as private-pay trips. The Patient Transport Service operates more than 60 vehicles including ambulances, wheelchair accessible cars, and a standard car service. Staff are qualified in First Aid and have been trained in use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), oxygen and Entonox gasses, and in manual patient lifting and transfers. St. John Ambulance Cymru-Wales is a non-profit organization.
