BROOKLYN, NEW YORK - June 6, 2012 - A Brooklyn company that had been operating since 1987 without a license has been shut down by New York City's Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). The company, Private Escort Service (PLS) had received hundreds of thousands of dollars in recent years for providing State Medicaid transports. Medicaid officials said they were unaware that PES did not have the required TLC license. Medicaid has since stopped using them as a transport provider, and has made it mandatory that all ambulette companies provide proof of license. For more information see: Paratransit Company Shut Down.
