PITTSFIELD, MA - January 27, 2012 - The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) has announced the purchase 15 new paratransit vehicles, bought with $1.34 million in federal grant money to serve the transportation needs of the elderly and disabled in Pittsfield and Berkshire County, Massachusetts. They replace a fleet of vehicles that had been leased through a local ambulance company. County Ambulance will continue to manage and operate the BRTA Paratransit Service that provides trips for as many as 6,100 people per year.
