NEWS: DC MetroAccess Drivers Pressured to Work Long Hours
WASHINGTON, DC - December 13, 2011 - Claims made by MetroAccess Paratransit drivers that they worked shifts up to 19 hours in length during Thanksgiving have been acknowledged by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro). Drivers said they felt pressured to work longer because of a staffing shortage that may have meant leaving some customers stranded. The driver's union says this is a serious safety concern and is investigating the reports. MetroAccess is operated by MV Transportation, who are under contract with Metro.
