NEWS: Suburban Detroit Dial-A-Ride Service Being Eliminated
HARPER WOODS, MICHIGAN - Apr. 14, 2011 - Because of declining property tax revenue and reduced state revenue sharing the City of Harper Woods, Michigan is proposing to end the local Dial-A-Ride service effective July 1, 2011. The program which was established in 1975, provides 40,000 trips/year at a cost to the city of $280,000. The city run Pointe Area Assisted Transportation Service (PAATS), a bus operation serving Harper Woods and the Grosse Pointes will continue. Harper Woods, Michigan is a city of 14,000 located on the east side of suburban Detroit.
