TAXI OF TOMORROW - New York is going to be replacing their current taxi fleet of sedans, accessible vans, and hybrid SUVs with a single 'purpose-built' design by 2014 that must be both fuel efficient and wheelchair accessible. The City of New York and the Taxi & Limousine Commission of New York have chosen 3 finalists in the Taxi of Tomorrow competition, and they are now seeking the public's input. There is an interactive Taxi of Tomorrow site where people can comment and share, as well you can fill out a short survey and be eligible to win up to $5,000 in free taxi rides. The contest ends December 20, 2010 and is open to most U.S. residents. See eligibility rules for more information. The 3 vehicles chosen are the Ford Transit Connect (top in photo), Nissan NV200 (bottom in photo), and the Turkish built Karsan V1.
