NEWS: Problems With New NYC Accessible Taxis

NEW YORK CITY - October 11, 2007 - MyFox-News reports on the fleet of new wheelchair accessible side-entry Uplander Taxis. The Chevrolet Uplander was recommended and approved by the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission against the advice of groups such as the United Spinal Association and the Disabled Riders Association. In the video, Michael Harris of the Disabled Riders Coalition demonstrates how impractical these new cabs are for those in electric wheelchairs. The news story also demonstrates the use of a rear-entry Toyota Sienna, that proves to be more accessible and comfortable. Concerned about disability transportation issues in New York?
