Oxygen Tank Securement

OXYGEN TANK SECUREMENT - While it is necessary for paratransit providers to transport passengers who need to carry oxygen with them, there is surprisingly little in the way of instructional materials for the safe securement of portable O2 tanks. The Rural Transit Assistance Center of the Illinois Institute For Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University has produced a much needed video that demonstrates three types of oxygen tank securement that could be used on any paratransit or ambulette/non-emergency medical transportation vehicle: 1. Oxygen Tank Secured to a Wheelchair 2. Oxygen Tank Cart Securement 3. Oxygen Tank Shoulder Bag Securement. See also: Transporting Oxygen on School Buses (1994) Florida Department of Education.
